April 25 2014 - Hot Top Ten

AS ELEPHANTS ARE - WENT WRONG
The Bucks foursome cut another slice of infectious pop from the 'Hand Prints' EP, and sound like they are far from going 'wrong', having steadily built up a burgeoning fan base in just a year and garnering Soundcloud plays in five-figure numbers.

HOWLING BELLS - YOUR LOVE
New single out on June 2 via Birthday Records - the second from the band’s fourth album,'Heartstrings' released on same day - that is as wide and cinematically lush as is Juanita Stein’s vocal to swoon for.

LOST WINTER - FOOTSTEPS IN THE SAND
Our recent Track Of The Day from the Huddersfield electro synth trio, featuring the quite glorious vocal of Charlotte Francis. Gloriously listenable. A band to keep on your radar.

WILD SMILES - FOOL FOR YOU
Like they say, it's not the length that matters but what you do with it, and while this barely crosses over two minutes, the three Winchester pop- thrashers that we first saw live last year (see review here ) manage to whip things up in fine style.

MISSING SIBLING - BALLOONS
Fuzzy, warm slacker pop with a big melody infusion from this Fort Worth, Texas trio. Taken from their second album 'Spies' which came out on April 15.

HUMBUG - DANCED ALL NIGHT
Another track from the promising Essex band of teenagers we featured here just recently as a hot one with previous track 'Lucky One'. (They are not paying us for inclusion!)

BALLERINA BLACK - BRIXTON RAIN
The dark Los Angeles-based post punk/electro pop four-piece head to the UK in a few weeks (see our feature here ) with this latest track in their repertoire. Shame they're not playing actually in Brixton, really.

ALLUSONDRUGS - NERVOUS
The five-piece grunge fuzzers from Castleford, West Yorkshire release this next Monday (April 28) as limited edition CD & download via Clue Records. Catch them live tomorrow night (April 26) at The Fenton, Leeds.

ART TRIP & THE STATIC SOUND - THE GIRL WHO
Lead cut from their upcoming debut album 'Nothing Is Static', out May 19 thru Fiasco Recordings, from the incendiary London four-piece who have been around for a few years now (earning praise from the likes of XFM's John Kennedy in the process), but could now see themselves reaching a wider audience.

THE SONIC REVOLVERS - WISHING WELL
"Lyrically it’s about the loss of dreams, giving up on something you once believed in, but it’s also not devoid of hope, and is not about throwing everything away," say the grunge-esque quartet of this single release out June 2.
