May 2 2014 - Hot Top Ten

ABE - DARK & SWEET
The electronic Sheffield three-piece we introduced here back in January, sounding much as the title suggests here on their latest offering: certainly sweet; devilishly tempting.

LOOM - YOSOKO
Our former Track Of The Day  the new - and best yet - single from the Leamington likely lads, out on May 5. Songs like this show that frontman Tarik Badwan can do so much more that scowl.

MONUMENT VALLEY - TATTOOED FISTS
The project of Londoner Ned Younger, taken from his debut album 'Walking On Skin' out on June 9. If this highly listenable earworm of a track - that sets Telecaster guitar against a London urban vocal somewhere in between Only Real and iTch - is representative of the album, things look very good indeed.

THE FEED - REXY
Taken from their second album 'Outsider' released August 5, it's all about the fuzz, it's all about the riffs from these St Louis scuzz rockers.

PUBLIC ACCESS T.V. - MIDDLE CHILD
Second track out from the New York three-piece, and despite only having played one hometown live show so far, the buzz is preceding them. In the UK to play May 3 Liverpool Sound City; 4th - Glasgow Stag & Dagger, and 9th in Brighton for The Great Escape.

BLESSA - UNFURL
Lead cut from the Sheffield five-piece's debut EP, 'Love Is An Evil Word' out June 23 - produced by Hookworms' MJ. Catch them at Liverpool Sound City tomorrow (May 2) and The Great Escape on 10th.

KRAMIES - THE WOODEN HEART
Title track from the new EP by Dutch-American Kramies Windt that fuses acoustic guitar and synthesised sounds into lush dream-pop.

BLANK REALM - BULLDOZER LOVE
No apologies for featuring the Brisbane babes twice in a month (after earlier album cut 'Reach You On The Phone') for this eight-minute long new single taken from the 'Grassed Inn' album (out now on Fire Records) is simply ear nectar.

MEADOWLARK - FAMILY TREE
Lead track of the Plymouth trio's debut EP ‘Three Six Five’ out on May 26 via Believe Recordings. Catch them live at Sebright Arms, London on May 27 to hear Kate McGill's sweet as a lark's song voice.

THE SO SO GLOS - SPEAKEASY
Taken from the Brooklyn punks' new album 'Blowout' released on May 19 via Votiv/Caroline International/Shea Stadium Records, infectious rousing indie in the style of Parquet Courts.
