June 6 2014 - Hot Top Ten

DAUDI MATSIKO - YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN ME, BUT I HOPE YOU DON'T
The sotto voce Nottingham acoustic artist's EP, 'A Brief Introduction To Failure' has made him a name to watch.  Folk, with a soul twist - think Luke Sital-Singh. Interesting arrangement and lyrics - "But I'm a rotten tooth in/A mouth full of crooked teeth".

MOMBI - DEAF CANYON
Track from the recently released 'Turning Witch' EP from the experimental Denver trio. Full of ambient drones that kick up a gear after the three minute mark.

STARGAZY - HALF LIFE
Jangly guitars of a melodic surf pop persuasion in this bright and breezy track that comes from the Brooklyn six-piece's (formerly known as Fishdoctor) new EP 'The Fashion'.

WOMAN'S HOUR - CONVERSATIONS
Title track from the London foursome's debut album out July 14 on Secretly Canadian. Catch them at Field Day tomorrow (June 7).

BLOOM - SLOW EVIL
Featured here earlier in the week, the Cardiff four-piece look certain to be haunting a few ears with this.

SPLIT SECONDS - HALFWAY THERE
Latest beach-fresh pop single from the Melbourne/Perth quintet, featuring the vocals of Kathryn Rollins.

GOSPEL - DISASTERS RUNNING WILD
Our Track Of The Day here earlier in the week, outstanding debut from the new electronica duo, out via Bandcamp on July 7.

TENTERHOOK - CHEMICALS
Since we introduced 19-year-old Archie Faulks here back in February, he's sold out his debut London show, is about to announce a UK tour (ond date being St. Pancras Old Church on September 11) and launches his debut EP - from which this track comes - at the same time.

ETERNAL DEATH - BULLET
Dark and icy synthed-out disco vibes from the Swedish musician, featuring the vocals of 21-year-old Elin Berlin, out this week via Labrador Records.

THE DEATH OF POP - WHENEVER
Taken from the London quintet's - three brothers and two cousins - new EP - 'Fifths' out on July 28 thru Art Is Hard. Pop guitars with a coating of shoegaze.
