Track Of The Day :: Bad Breeding - Chains

Our love affair here at Little Indie with Stevenage's Bad Breeding began back in July with having 'Burn This Flag'  - our Track Of The Day - on repeat for 20...40...80...100...er, well a helluva lot of plays. We lost count in the end. And considering we are still not bored with it must say something.

And now they are back with another short, sharp and serious shock by way of 'Chains', the new single (backed with a cover of Wire's 'Two People in a Room') which will be self-released on November 24 via eBay as a limited edition 7” vinyl (x200), and available as a free download via Soundcloud.

The reasons behind this are explained by Bad Breeding as follows:

“We’d had offers from labels to put the single out, but the choices available confined the physical records to particular regions and culturally-closed circles. The idea of removing the commercial partitions between Bad Breeding and the listener seemed pretty straight forward: taking our ideas at source and making them directly available to anyone who wants to listen. The decision to self-release was hardly a gaudy slight on traditional release methods. For us, it was just important to go beyond the limited distribution frameworks made available for smaller releases.”

The image on the Soundcloud link below sums up quite well the way Bad Breeding make you feel. Their songs may be short - 'Chains' just 1.46 minutes - but just listening to them leave you feeling completely wasted - in a good way. As with 'Burn This Flag' before it, along with their debut 'Age Of Nothing', they come on with a lashing strike of guitars and ferocious, get-the-point-across vocals that burn into not just your skull, but your whole psyche.

Rating: Like their ethos, love their gut-pummeling intensity. The sky could be the limit for them in 2015. 9/10
