Track Of The Day :: Cinema - If It's Love

Turning around a fast follow-up to their January debut single ‘I Know’, new Birmingham-based five-piece Cinema are already prepping ‘If It’s Love’ for a digital release on April 20.

Produced by Ryan Pinson - as part of a three-track EP to be released later - Cinema vocalist David Hammersley describes 'If It's Love' as being "the result of myself toying with percussion loops and simplistic guitar roots. As a song it sits somewhere between an electronic and an indie alternative song."

'If It's Love' has the most gloriously catchy arrangement that bounces along on topically sweet percussive twitches and electronic stems that make it a feel-good must-hear.

The alt-indie outfit - who played their first headline show a few nights ago in Birmingham - formed last summer out of the ashes of other local bands. Using a mix of electronic and traditional instruments, they create something that is multi-textured. "Our influences are varied," explains David. "Of late, a tropical percussive sound is emerging in us. I would tie this to bands like Bombay Bicycle Club and Arcade Fire. But each of us in the band has our own influences."

Cinema are: David Hammersley - vocals/guitar, Alex Dodwell - guitar/sampler, Thomas Ridsdill - keyboards, Ben Cross - bass, Jake Hudson - drums/sampler
